WHAT DOES A BLACKLEDGE MARINE INSPECTION INCLUDE?
Seawall inspections are performed differently depending upon their type and area of focus. Huntington Harbour seawalls are inspected differently than the concrete panel walls in Newport Beach. Water velocity, intersecting channels, boat traffic, and current all have profound effects on the wall and its supportive mud around it. Most residential seawalls are inspected using visual non-destructive techniques. Inaccessible areas may give indications where the inspector can give opinions on those areas that couldn't be seen.
Ron Blackledge made the first inspection and subsequent repairs in Huntington Harbour in 1989 at the request of engineers. The wall was near total failure. An inspection procedure was established and ultimately repair methods were established. Blackledge initiated these procedures and methods. They are still being used today.
